About this Event
BWorks Earn-A-Bike is a free, hands-on class that teaches basic bicycle maintenance and safety while fostering important life skills including communication, teamwork and responsibility to children ages 8 to 17 who can already ride a bike. After completing a consecutive series of six (two-hour) classes, participants earn a refurbished bicycle and brand-new helmet, light set and lock.
Students who commit to this series will meet for six Thursday evenings, beginning each week at 5:30 p.m. (with each class ending at 7:30 p.m.). The first class meeting is Thursday, March 6, and graduation day (the final class, which includes a graduation ride on the students’ newly earned bikes!) will be Thursday, April 10. Students must consistently attend the six classes to earn their bike.
This particular class series is headquartered at St. Louis BWorks, located in Soulard at 2414 Menard Street, St. Louis, MO 63104.
Requirements for this course:
1) To participate in this class, students must already be able to ride a bicycle comfortably on their own — without assistance or training wheels. (We regularly offer a separate course for students ages 8 to 17 who do not yet know how to ride a bike, called Learn-To-Ride. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have questions about which course is most appropriate for your child.)
2) A parent/guardian must attend the first 15 minutes of the first of the six classes.
We also limit each family to two registrants per session, and students must be between the ages of 8 and 17 years old.
