[9/27 note: WE WILL LEAVE THE PARKING LOT AT 6:30. If you're late you can text or call my cell phone and I'll let you know where we are so you can meet us. (We will start by walking up to Mayo Island and back so you can easily find us.)
Here is roughly the route we will be taking.(https://maps.app.goo.gl/rk7E7sL9pzQ9J8hJ6)
I've been keeping my eye on the weather forecast, and as of right now (Monday morning) the forecast for this Saturday is clear and cool.
Yes, this is early! It's going to be hard for me too :). Summer is not the best time to get golden hour photos because of the early sunrise and late sunset. But if we want those amazing sunrise shots we have to be willing to deal with with the pain of getting up early. I'm willing. Are you?
The plan is to do a small loop around Manchester starting at Flood Wall Park at the base of Mayo Island. I have a route planned out and we will mainly walk around the neighborhoods with industrial facilities and old warehouses being converted into (mostly) living space and offices.
We'll wrap up by visiting a local photography studio and getting a tour of the space that is rentable. The studio tour is TBD, so I will update this as I confirm day/time and scope out the space. [Edit, I have not heard from the studio owner so we may not do this tour as planned, but we can do something else instead. I'm thinking of a few different things but if you have any ideas I'm open!]
A few reminders:
Wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. This will be a lot of (mostly) pavement walking but there's a lot of construction in that area so expect it to be dirty in spots.
Bring your camera (if you don't have one your phone will do)
Optional -- Bring a monopod or tripod for slow shutter speeds to slow down time and get silky water or motion effects. Monopods also work great as walking sticks.
Remember to charge your batteries & check your SD card.
The terrain is relatively flat but there are a few small ups and downs here and there, some gravel paths, and a few boulders in the Mayo Bridge area.
Expect the Mayo Bridge to be under construction at this time (TBD) so will have to adjust and adapt if needed.
