Early Music at St. James presents harpist Julia Seager Scott, and lutenist Lucas Harris "Un pasticcio a capriccio" in a unique program presenting musical duos from the 17th century.Musicians in seventeenth-century Italy delighted in whimsical flights of fancy which followed only their own caprice! In this recital, a mesmerizing plucked texture created by Julia Seager Scott (Baroque triple harp) and Lucas Harris (theorbo & archlute) will carry you through a pastiche of experimental genres from the birth of the Baroque such as the toccata, basso ostinato, and capriccio.
Early Music at St. James is a concert series initiative to present performances on historical instruments in the intimate and superb acoustics of St. James’ St. George Chapel. Four concerts will be held throughout the season at 1pm on Thursdays, following the noon hour Eucharist and will offer approximately 45 minutes of music. This will be a fantastic opportunity to hear soloists and small ensembles perform historical repertoire right in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Admission is free. Donations welcome to support music at St. James Cathedral.
