Early Morning Opening: Aircraft Exploration

The Intrepid Museum offers Early Morning Openings for children with autism and their families before the Museum opens to the public! Families receive a sensory bag with interactive activities designed for the whole family, and explore the Museum without the crowds! Participants receive a social narrative ahead of time.

Welcome aboard! Explore the Intrepid Museum’s historic aircraft at the first in-person, sensory-friendly Early Morning Opening in over a year! See aircraft from World War II to the Cold War, learn about their similarities and differences, and get up close to a helicopter, all before the Museum opens to the public.

All visitors must follow the Museum's health and safety guidelines. More details about guidelines and policies will be sent to all registrants ahead of the program, along with the social narrative. In the meantime, learn more here: .

Families must check in by 9:30am. After the Museum opens to the public at 10:00am, the interactive Exploreum will stay closed to the public until 11:00am.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but if you can bring a paper or digital copy of your ticket it expedites the check-in process!
