About this Event
To find the meeting point, head along Symondshyde Lane towards Symondshyde Farm and park in the spaces beside the lane close to the farm, do not drive through the gates nor in the opening to the drive.
We'll walk along the rutted path towards the earthworks where Stanborough Pit has been created - the exact route will depend on what has been happening with the gravel works in recent weeks.
We hope to see kestrels, thrushes, wagtail and other farmland birds, plus various waders which might be found around the lake.
For those with mobility issues, the walk can be cut short at any time and you can retrace your steps back to your car, but there are no opportunities to sit and rest.
Afterwards, feel free to join us at the Harpsfield Hall (Parkhouse Ct, Hatfield AL10 9RQ) where coffee and brunch is recommended!
The event is free but a voluntary donation of £2 per person is suggested.
Parking spaces are limited so please try and car share. If you would like to do that but are not sure who else is attending, feel free to email the organiser, Rob Blythe, on [email protected]. Give him your phone number, your address, whether you would prefer to drive, be a passenger or either of those, and whether you intend going to the Harpsfield Hall. By doing so, you are giving him permission to pass on your contact details to others attending the event to see whether car sharing is viable.
All welcome, whatever your level of birdwatching knowledge. It will go ahead if it is raining. Call Rob on 07512 704744 for further details.
We might take photos of the event to publicise future events. If you do not wish to appear in them, please let the leader know.
