Cost is per child. Art Play is a caregiver and me open ended process art class infused with opportunities for free play.
We will utilize multi-age group sessions to promote empathy, kindness, and shared learning. Classes will begin with a story or song to inspire our play (sometimes oral tradition, sometimes a book, sometimes singing and creating together) and lead into open ended process art projects from a variety of materials. The end product of your child's creation is not the most important thing here, in fact, many of the opportunities for creating will be communal. Their experimentation, creativity, and willingness to try new things is the focus of this class.
Weeks 1 and 2: Fruit
Weeks 3 and 4: Plants
Week 5 and 6: Water
Weeks 7 and 8: Bugs
Week 9 and 10: Birds (for Monday class only)
Process art oportunities may include:
Gluing materials together for construction or collage.
Painting using a variety of tools and brushes.
Print making with stamps, or making the stamps.
Drawing Straight or curvy lines using multiple mediums.
Crushing items using a mortar and pestel to make paint.
Stringing and making beads to form jewelry.
Using clay or GF playdough to construct objects.
Class instructor is an early childhood educator, early interventionist, play advocate, parent coach, and skilled parent-child class facilitator.
Miranda has been providing early childhood caregiver and me group and individual coaching experiences since 2008. She incorporates experience and training from a variety of programs to support her facilitation and skills, and wants to help you and your child help art and creativity become a part of your everyday flow. We believe creating is an essential component of play in the early years. Come create!
***Early Childhood Art and Play is designed for children ages 3 years to 7 years. No sibling discounts are provided for this class as we include materials fees in the enrollments. If your child falls outside of the class age range or you have older siblings, please email us to work through any questions to see what we can accommodate on an individual basis.
***Parents who have younger siblings can play in the playhub alongside their parent for a small fee of $5 which can be paid upon arrival, or can be worn in a carrier during class. Please note, younger siblings under age 3 won't be allowed to walk around the art space due to materials and safety (materials may be choking hazards for babys who are still mouthing) and this will be enforced due to liability.
