About this Event

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Early Cancer Institute at the University of Cambridge, the first UK National Institute for this increasingly important field of cancer research.

One in two adults in the western world develop cancer and this is predicted to rise further as life expectancy increases. The early detection and interception of cancer is vital to give people the best chance of curative treatment and long-term survival. Our team of world-class researchers, based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, is passionate about detecting cancer earlier, striving to move the world beyond the fear of cancer.

Please join us on Wednesday 21 September from 2.45pm to hear more about the new institute and get an overview of cancer and early detection in the UK and Cambridge. Speakers include Prof Sir Mike Richards, UK National Screening Committee chair, and Prof Patrick Maxwell, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge.

The talks will be followed by our annual garden party at Trinity College from 4.45 - 7pm, which you are warmly invited to attend.
