Anti-bullying & Self-Defence Course for kids 8+ and Adults
This 4-week course is designed to teach you how to recognise the stages of an attack and how to respond safely and effectively at each stage.
You will learn practical skills to help protect yourself at school, in the workplace, and in everyday public settings.
What the course covers:
- Avoidance
The best form of self-protection is avoiding trouble altogether. We’ll teach you how to spot potential risks early and stay out of harm’s way. - De-escalation
When a situation can’t be avoided, you’ll learn proven strategies to reduce tension and prevent it from becoming physical. - Personal Safety – Don’t Get Hit
As Mike Tyson famously said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” You’ll learn how to protect yourself if a situation turns physical. - Staying on Your Feet
Remaining upright is vital. Falling to the ground can quickly make a situation more dangerous, and we’ll show you how to maintain balance and stability. - Getting Back Up Safely
If you do fall, you’ll learn safer and more effective ways to get back to your feet. - Self-Protection & Escape
The goal of self-defence is not to “win”, but to get away safely. You’ll learn practical responses designed to create an opportunity to escape.

Course Instructor
The course is led by Head Coach Sensei Rob Phelps, 6th Dan Ju Jitsu.
Sensei Rob has trained in Japanese Ju Jitsu and self-defence since 1998, and has been coaching both adults and children since 2004.
