Eagle Watching Along the Nooksack River
Saturday November 30, 2022
7:45 am-11:30am
Chris Brewer, Dorrie Jordan, Steve Glenn
Registration Required
Trip Limit: 16
Come along on this fall visit to birding hotspots at South Lake Whatcom and along the Nooksack River. We’ll be seeing eagles and birds such as mergansers, buffleheads, goldeneyes, herons, kingfishers, dippers and other interesting birds as well as spawning salmon. Walking will be on level ground with minimal distances to walk. Our trip ends with an optional group lunch (bring your own brown bag lunch!) in the warmth of the Deming Library and good birder camaraderie.
We’ll meet at the Sunset Drive Safeway parking lot and carpool from there. Parking at most of these birding sites is limited so if you are willing to be a carpool driver let us know. Field trip leaders are locals who volunteered at the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center and have led this trip for the past 6 years: Dorrie Jordan, retired veterinarian; Steve Glenn PhD, retired ecology/bird biology professor at SVCC; and Chris Brewer, retired Whatcom Museum educator and previous Audubon board member.’
