About this Event
Course Summary:
An increasing number of provincial laws and city by-laws, as well as professional energy standards and rating systems are requiring the use of building energy simulation programs to verify energy and dollar savings for both high performance new facility design projects and existing building retrofits. This course covers the essentials of building energy modeling and explains how to use modeling to guide design decisions. It provides modeling tips related to the building envelope, plug loads, lighting systems, and HVAC systems. Attendees will gain a clear, in-depth understanding of the theory and practice of building energy modeling, and will also have the opportunity for hands-on building simulation experience during the seminar.
Course Description:
Energy modelling is the software used to analyze and optimize the energy characteristics of buildings.
eQuest is an energy modelling system developed to addresses the energy modelling performance requirements of SB10, where SB stands for Sustainable Buildings, an annex to Part 3 of the Ontario Building Code, the section of OBC devoted to the construction of new large buildings including office, industrial, warehouse, institutional and industrial buildings.
eQuest energy models are developed by architects, HVAC designers and contractors, consulting engineers and energy consultants who have been engaged for the new development project. This course is designed for professionals from these disciplines.
