Join us at the Visitor Center at the Frontier Culture Museum in Historic Staunton, Virginia for this special, limited guest exhibition entitled “E Pluribus Unum: Out of Many One", curated by Scott Ballin.**EXTENDED Thru December 1, 2024**, this exhibition tells the complex story of the shaping of the United States through historical maps from 1600 to 1800 as European empires claimed ownership of territories which had been populated by American Indian nations for thousands of years.
The European nations used maps as political tools in the race to extend their imperial territories in North America. Centuries of wars, colonization, and political treaties shaped our modern United States.
Visit this exhibit to see how the territorial claims for North America changed over time. This important collection of historical documents offers a fascinating chronology of early American history from multiple European perspectives.
