LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes will host the first Los Angeles gathering of Sonideros. Sonideros are barrio DJs that emerged in the late 1960s and early 70s in Mexico City. Their main purpose is to host dances in working class neighborhoods for people who could not afford to pay the high prices of dance halls. Sonideros are responsible for the popularity of Colombian music, including Cumbia and other dance styles from Latin America.Lead
