Dying to Vote: History of Suppression and Intimidation

Join the James River Valley (VA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated for a private screening of the short film, Dying to Vote, on Sunday, October 4, 2-4pm at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. The film, by Emmy award winner Loki Mulholland, delves into the history of Black people in America gaining the right to vote and the ongoing efforts to expand it.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion with one of the producers, BK Fulton, CEO Soulidifly. The film covers significant events from the reconstruction period post-Civil War to the civil rights movement and modern challenges to democracy and voting rights, including recent attempts to limit voter access and the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

This event, part of the "Doughnuts & Documentaries" series launched in 2022, aims to provide educational insights and feature provocative speakers. This session is also in partnership with the Women in the NAACP, Henrico County Branch, who will be present for voter registration and advocacy.

Don't miss this enlightening event and indulge in complimentary doughnuts while engaging in crucial conversations.
