Join us for an exploration of natural dyes used in Viking textiles – vibrant greens, soft reds, lichen purples, deep golds, and rich blues – based on archeological evidence. You will learn to prepare dye baths, mordant fibers, modify colors, and identify dye plants. Students will receive eight 25-yard skeins of yarn to dye, enough for you to create a project. This introductory class will also discuss ethical harvesting, ways to modify colors, and sources for further exploration. For more information and to register visit: https://duluthfolkschool.com/events/dye-like-a-viking-july-2024/
