Hamilton born Independent author, artist, activist and curator Andy Tom (Andrew) Hunter presents an illustrated talk on their recent projects: I in None of This Find PLACE or REFUGE and It Was Dark There All The Time. Through these interdisciplinary projects, Andy reflects on their four decades of creative work with an emphasis on their commitment to the process of history and being accountable as a settler. Andy is a graduate of Dundas Valley School of Art and NSCAD University. They have presented projects nationally and internationally, taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in art, architecture and museum studies, and published over 15 books along with catalogue essays and short stories. Their most recent book is It Was Dark There All The Time: Sophia Burthen and The Legacy of Slavery in Canada.
Learning from other artists is one of the key elements in an artist’s training. These free 1-hour talks presented by Dundas Valley School of Art are an excellent opportunity to hear from artists themselves as they share information on their careers, inspiration, techniques and the work they produce.
