Join Beyond Choir for a moving performance of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, a masterpiece of choral and orchestral beauty. Inspired by Gregorian chant and infused with lush harmonies, Duruflé’s setting offers a profound sense of peace, reflection, and hope.Composed in 1947, Requiem is one of Duruflé’s most celebrated works, blending ancient chant melodies with impressionistic harmonies and rich orchestral textures. Unlike the dramatic intensity of other well-known requiem settings, Duruflé’s interpretation is deeply meditative and luminous, offering a message of comfort and rest rather than fear and judgment. His careful integration of Gregorian chant themes with modern harmonies creates a unique and timeless sound that continues to move audiences around the world.
