About this Event
"Black Health and Wellness in Durham Region: The Proclamation," will feature a compelling panel discussion with prominent health and wellness leaders, in sharing their visions for a more equitable future.
In addition to a panel discussion, community members can expect a vibrant and enriching experience, starting with an Opening Drumming Circle led by Negus, offering a rhythmic and cultural beginning to the day. The Preventative Health Fair provides valuable resources, including free health screenings for Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension, lactation consultations, Afro-Caribbean nutrition workshops, and Black hair health sessions. There will also be plenty of networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with Black physicians, nurses, and healers who are dedicated to supporting the community. Additionally, the Community Partner Showcase will feature representatives from prominent organizations such as Durham Community Health Centre, Durham Children's Aid Society, Durham Region, Ifarada, The Black Queens of Durham, and Lakeridge Hospital, among others, offering insights into their vital work and services.
This vibrant, family-friendly event is an opportunity to celebrate Black health and wellness, foster meaningful connections, and gain valuable resources that empower individuals and families.
