This is the 138th Durham Miners' Gala, a day of celebration of community, international solidarity and working class culture. Music will fill the cathedral from brass bands and two new banners will be blessed during the service. This year marks the 40th anniversary since the start of the miners' strike. Procession of Banners: 2.30pm
Service: 3pm
Colourful banners are carried through Durham to the sound of brass music, before celebrations with stalls and funfairs, along with 'The Big Meeting'. Find out the full schedule of the Miners' Gala here.
