Welcome to our first duo concert, in which we will perform piano works for both solo and four hands!The main feature of the programme is the Fantasie in F Minor by Franz Schubert, perhaps the most established work within the repertory for piano four hands. With a cyclic structure and a lyrical theme that returns after a long process of fugal development, it bears semblances to the famous Wanderer Fantasy for solo piano by the same composer, and even certain late works of Beethoven, who had a great artistic influence on Schubert.
As appetizers, we will serve some excerpts from Agathe Backer Grøndahl’s I Blaafjellet, Op. 44, Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, Op. 12 and the 2nd movement from Schubert’s Piano Sonata in A Major, D.664. (And maybe some gingerbread 🍪)
