Duo Brennan-Keretses presents a diverse program of duo guitar music that explores the beauty and versatility of the instrument. The concert features Olga Amelkina Vera’s ‘Western Vista’, a tribute to the beauty of the American West, Marek Pasieczny’s ‘Seven Jazz Pieces’, each a gem showcasing a different jazz genre, and an arrangement of Arvo Pärt’s hypnotic ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ for electric and classical guitars. Rounding out the program are three works originally written for mallet instruments and arranged for duo guitar: Steve Reich’s rhythmically extroverted ‘Nagoya Guitars’, Chad Floyd’s reflective ‘The Long Way Home’, and Emmanuel Séjourné’s fiery ‘Losa’.
Sean Brennan is a multi-disciplinary guitarist, arranger, and educator from Baltimore, Maryland. Specializing in reimagining the guitar’s potential, he focuses on arranging and performing music with a particular interest in percussion-inspired pieces. From concert halls to hospital lobbies to graffitied alleys, Sean performs regularly as a soloist and a chamber musician in the Baltimore area.
James Keretses maintains a vibrant career as an ensemble musician, soloist, and educator. As a member of the award-winning Baltimore Guitar Duo, the Atlantic Guitar Quartet, and Duo Brennan-Keretses, James has performed extensively along the East Coast. Reflecting his passion for new music, he has premiered and/or commissioned music by Cody Criswell, Kirk-Evan Billet, Olga Amelkina-Vera, Douglas Lora, and Ronald Pearl.
Both Sean and James are passionate and dedicated teachers, having built thriving guitar studios at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, Maryland.
