Adam Hall & the Velvet Playboys featuring extra special guest Ashlin Parker (USA) live and direct from New Orleans.An Afternoon in New Orleans is a TWO-PART event that’s got live music, interactive storytelling, a chance to learn a little, and optional dancing. You don’t need any music or dance experience — just bring your curiosity and your sense of fun.
This event is for EVERYONE - whether you're a music lover, jazz-curious, a dancer, or just someone looking for something different to do on a weekend. This event will be accessible, inspiring, and seriously good fun.
You can purchase a ticket that includes workshop and the concert or just concert by itself.
🎺PART ONE: Stories of Jazz (3:00pm)🎺
Adam Hall and Ashlin Parker (USA) break down what makes jazz… jazz. You’ll get a chance to hear about some of jazz’s coolest elements, what improvisation is really about, and why New Orleans is the birthplace of this incredible music. Complete with interactive play and opportunity to perform with or dance alongside this all star band.

🎺BREAK + OPTIONAL MINI LESSON (15 minutes)🎺
Grab a drink, stretch your legs, or — if you’re feeling adventurous — join a short, beginner-friendly mini dance lesson. It’s light, fun, and designed to help you feel comfortable on the dance floor for Part Two. Totally optional.
🎺PART TWO: Live New Orleans Jazz Set (4:30pm)🎺
We launch into a Full Performance of Adam Hall & the Velvet Playboys with Ashlin Parker (USA). Complete with the Classic New Orleans Repertoire you know and love. Songs like "Iko Iko", "When the Saints" and many more.

Adam Hall — one of Perth’s standout jazz musicians, known for his high-energy shows, infectious stage presence, and deep love of classic jazz and rhythm & blues. He’s joined by his band who are crowd favourites for a reason.
Ashlin Parker — a Grammy-winning trumpeter from New Orleans, respected worldwide for his artistry, creativity, and educational work. Ashlin brings authentic New Orleans flavour, rich musical history, and world-class musicianship.
Together, they’ll guide you through the roots, stories, and sounds that make jazz such a powerful and joyful art form.
