Duniya is an Afro-Fusion ensemble based in Northern California. The musicians reflect the diversity of the sound with members hailing from Mali and California.
The music represents a blend of ancient and modern musical approaches and the sound is highly rhythmic, danceable and at times hypnotic.
Lead Vocalist and Lyricist Mariam Diakate (of Orchestra Gold), and Percussionists Moussa Camara and Seydou Dante all hail from Bamako, Mali and embody a deeply rooted mastery of traditional Malian music and dance.
Composer Greg Fletcher, (formerly of Soul Union), plays a 12 stringed harp/lute from Mali called the Kamelengoni. Duniya offers a fresh and unique musical experience thanks to the high level of musicianship combined with Mariam Diakite’s undeniable stage presence.
This band will keep audiences dancing with smiles on their faces.
