Mind training for uncertain times
The Buddhist teachings encourage us to develop more compassion and concern for others. But how do we do that when we are struggling with a negative self-image, feelings of insecurity and self-criticism? When we are absorbed in our own negative emotions, our world becomes very small and claustrophobic and it seems as if there’s no space for others. How can Lojong (training of the mind in compassion) help us break out of that small self, expand our perspective and connect us to our natural well-being and compassion? Could it be that a deeper sense of well-being is related to feeling more connected with ourselves and others?
In this weekend of teachings with Dungse Jampal Norbu, we will explore these questions in the context of the Lojong slogans from the Seven Points of Mind Training. These slogans show us how compassion and insight can practically be applied in our daily life and especially in times of uncertainty and change. As well as hearing Dungse Jampal’s advice and instructions, there will be opportunity to contemplate, discuss and ask questions on this topic. If you attended Dungse la’s teachings last year at the Rigpa centre Amsterdam, then this weekend will be an opportunity to learn more about these slogans.
