Grecco Romank, boasting the shortest average height of any Auckland act, delivers the tallest order of sonic disruption. This Tāmaki Makaurau trio—Billie Fee (classical soprano), Mikey Sperring (menacing growls), and Damian Golfinopoulos (samples, synths and more)—emerged in 2020 when an opera singer, a bus driver, and a filmmaker converged in a haunted primary school. Roy Irwin (they/them) is a singular figure in Aotearoa’s music scene, known for their emotive indie-pop stylings, poetic, shadowy lyrics, and guitar playing that evokes a sense of joy and energy. Now backed by a full band featuring Joe Locke, Nigel Wright and Sam Wieck, Roy will be playing their last solo show for us at Dungeon.
