The renowned specialist Beatles rock band playing an eclectic, high-energy set of chart-topping hits, classic and rarely played live album tracks, and songs from each of the Beatles’ early ‘70s solo years.The Dung Beatles’ trademark style blends authentic arrangements and top-drawer musicianship with high-energy performances. It’s a cocktail that has firmly established the band’s reputation over the last decade as, to quote David Stopps (founder and promoter of the legendary Friars Club in Aylesbury) “one of the best Beatles bands in the world”.
The band has played hundreds of gigs, from theatres to festivals to clubs, including Aylesbury’s Waterside and Chesham’s Elgiva theatres, and The Cavern in Liverpool. They have also been regular guests and live performers on BBC radio.
The band prefers to be known as a ‘Beatles rock band’ rather than ‘tribute’, as there are no costumes, acting, or backing tracks, just a focus on delivering live music with energy and authenticity – and with a touch of their own personality. “As our name suggests we don’t take ourselves overly seriously, except for the music itself which we work hard on, not least to get the vocal harmonies right”, says vocalist/guitarist Steve Hillier.
The band has established quite a following over the years with many regulars coming time and again to their shows, among them hard-core Beatles fans who expect top-notch Beatles music
The Dung Beatles’ repertoire includes well over 130 Beatles songs to date; ‘The Beatles Years & Beyond’ show also includes songs from each of the Beatles’ early ‘70s solo years. Played over 2 one-hour sets, the atmosphere will be one of jubilant celebration of the Fab Four’s iconic song catalogue.
