Join Dundee Rugby Club’s Executive for a glass of fizz on May 1, at 7pm, at their Alloway Place clubhouse and hear all about the May Day sponsorship opportunities they have on offer for local businesses.
The club - one of the biggest in Scotland with 600 members aged between five to 75 - is growing exponentially and needs financial support to meet the demand.
More women and girls are joining the club than ever before with almost 100 playing for the Valkyries. The Eagles - aged from Primary 1 to Primary 7 - have 170 players while the youth section boasts 180.
And then there’s the 1st XV who are looking to move up in National 1 next season and challenge for promotion. The ultimate aim is to play in the premiership - and with new coach Alan Clark on board, the team is aiming to get back into the Premiership.
But this all takes support - and the club is reaching out to local businesses to help.
Club President Derek Black said: “Our sponsors’ event is an ideal opportunity for the Dundee business community to get behind this massively-ambitious club and to help drive it forward to the top of Scottish Rugby.
“From our youngest Eagles to our veterans, there are sponsorships available to suit all pockets and to take advantage of our fantastic digital reach to publicise your company. You are Dundee’s business best - join with us in partnership to make us Scotland’s best.”
The club’s Director of Rugby said Colin Sangster said: “In order to run a club of this size we need to generate support from local businesses to generate the revenue required.
“We run 20 rugby teams for men and women, boys and girls, and with rising costs for buses, kit and other ancillary items, the figure in the expenditure column of the balance sheet is forever rising.
“The club is performing well on the pitch, across the board, and in particular we are reaching out in areas of social deprivation to provide the kids with the opportunity to play our great game and learn from the values of the game. I look forward to meeting some of you at the event.”
