NEW 4K RESTORATION! Working on his first film, 1915 stuntman Roy (Lee Pace, at his most dizzyingly smouldering) suffers a terrible accident. Now paralyzed and suicidally depressed, he languishes in the hospital, plotting his own death – until he meets young Alexandria (Catinca Untaru), a little girl who has broken her arm and whose irrepressible joie de vivre awakens a spark in Roy. He tells her fantastic tales – which we see through the lens of Alexandria’s spectacular imagination, a riot of confused and confusing images and half-understood plot points, in which a dashing hero (also Pace) seeks the rescue of his plucky daughter (also Catinca). But can fabulous fantasy compete with the grim reality of Roy’s fate and dark pessimism?
Directed by Tarsem Singh, one of cinema’s most singular and under-celebrated visionaries (whose work includes Jennifer Lopez vehicle THE CELL and Lady Gaga’s music video “911”), THE FALL wowed moviegoers – and then slipped away, falling through the cracks of distribution for more than 15 years. Rescued from limbo, Dumpster Raccoon Cinema is very proud to bring this film back to the big screen.
With video preshow, host Anthony Oliveira, live performance, and cocktails by the Shameful Tiki Room!
