Duluth 101: The Superior Hiking Trail, Minnesota's Premier Footpath in Duluth's Backyard! The Superior Hiking Trail is a 300-mile footpath that follows the North Shore's rocky ridgeline all the way to the Canadian border, passing directly through Duluth along the way. With over 60 access points along its corridor, the SHT has gained national recognition for its unbeatable overlooks, ease of access, epic elevation (ups and downs), and waterfalls.
In just 40 years, this Trail has become a household name in Minnesota and beyond, and Duluthians are fortunate to have this world-class trail in their backyard! Lisa Luokkala, Executive Director of the Superior Hiking Trail Association, will share some history of how the Superior Hiking Trail came to be and how a small group of committed people can execute a big dream! She will provide some fun facts and tips for accessing the 42 miles of the SHT that goes through the City of Duluth, along with more general user information that can be applied to any section of the Trail.
Lastly, the SHT is free to use, but it doesn't maintain itself. The Association has a small but mighty staff and 500 volunteers who care for the Superior Hiking Trail and Lisa will share ways you can get involved too.
P.S. There will be some SHT product giveaways!
Social time @ 5:30 pm, presentation at 6. Free event!
