presents The Juliet Letters
This very special collaboration between Duke Special and The Fews Ensemble focuses on The Juliet Letters, a remarkable recording made by Elvis Costello and The Brodsky Quartet just over 30 years ago. Inspired by a newspaper article, the album, written by Costello and the members of the Brodsky Quartet, imagines all kinds of letters being written to an imaginary recipient, Juliet Capulet.
The first half will be a programme of Duke originals and pieces inspired by The Juliet Letters; the second half will be a performance of the album in its entirety. This is a stunning retelling of a unique album and will be mostly seated (unreserved).
