About this Event
SAME DUCK TIME. SAME DUCK PLACE.
DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME DUCK ALLIANCE.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… WEIRD. DUCK. SEASON.
And once again, the waterfowl world braces itself as Toronto vs. Hamilton return for the FBC Annual DUCK OFF 🦆🔥
This is not casual birding.
This is a full-feathered feud.
On one side: Team Hamilton, led by the Hollander Crew — seasoned shoreline strategists, local-water loyalists, and unapologetic swan whisperers.
On the other: Team Toronto, captained by the Rozanov Squad — big-city optics, long-range binocular confidence, and absolutely no shame about counting ducks twice (we’re watching you 👀).
This January 25, we meet on neutral territory as both teams battle to out-duck, out-spot, and out-quack the opposition. Species counts will be tallied. Bragging rights will be earned. Feelings may be ruffled.

🦢 HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE?
LaSalle Park is famous for its Trumpeter Swans — the largest waterfowl in North America and a true conservation comeback story. Once gone from Ontario by 1886, they’ve returned in force thanks to decades of volunteer effort.
Today, Ontario boasts 2,000+ Trumpeter Swans, with 100–200 regularly holding court along LaSalle’s shoreline. They were even voted Burlington’s unofficial city bird — a neutral referee… or are they?
Hollander says yes.
Rozender says “we’ll see.”
