We gather on čuʔén or “Salt Spring Island” and acknowledge with deep respect that this event takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Hul’q’umi’num’-speaking peoples, including the Coast Salish nations of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan), Tsawout, and other First Nations who have stewarded this land for countless generations. We honor their enduring connection to the land, waters, and community, and recognize our responsibility to learn, share, and protect these sacred spaces. This acknowledgement is a reminder to act with love, respect, gratitude and accountability towards the land, water and people.
