Dubrovnik was the site of ferocious fighting in the Croatian War of Independence (1991-92) and you can see how much of the town was destroyed when looking from Mount Srd. The old (pre-war) and new tile roofs are of different colors. The Old Town walls are prominent in Game of Thrones and many other sites in the area were used as filming locations.Dubrovnik is the most "over-touristed" city in Europe with over 36 tourists annually per resident. It will be extremely crowded, particularly on the main street in Old Town, the Stradum.
