About this Event
Please join DSLUE family, friends, and supporters, on this sacred journey of healing, remembrance, and commemoration. On June 28, 2026, we will gather to honor our Jesuit and Saint Louis University enslaved ancestors, Charles and Henrietta Mills-Chauvin, on the day of their 166th wedding anniversary, and will dedicate a long overdue headstone at Calvary Cemetery.
This ceremony marks an important milestone in DSLUE's Legacy Initiative to provide headstones, markers, and memorials for Jesuit and Catholic enslaved ancestors buried in unmarked graves throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, and to commemorate and elevate their contributions to the St. Louis community.
Featured remarks will be presented by Missouri State Representative Raychel Proudie (District - 73), DSLUE Founder & Executive Director Robin Proudie, and Chief Belonging Officer at Saint Louis University, Rochelle Smith.
Please see the attached flyer to register and GPS directions to the ceremony site. Tent covered seating will be available.
For GPS directions to the ceremony site, scan the QR code on the cover flyer and click the "Directions" button. We recommend accessing GPS directions once you are within Calvary Cemetery. The GPS will direct you to Section 16, Lot Y, Grave #428.
