On January 16th at Club Sapphire the Down South Jazz Club will be presenting, for their first gig for 2025, The Paul Dion Trio with special guests. The Paul Dion Trio comprises well known musicians Paul Dion on keys, Ken Vatcher on drums, and introduces Barnaby Briggs on bass. Special guests will be vocalists Gabrielle Gwynne and Jim Hinkley. Bass player Barnaby Briggs has recently settled in Merimbula. He is an accomplished musician, playing both electric bass, and upright bass professionally for over 20 years. As well as being the full-time bass player for the Royal Military College Band and the 1RAR band, Barnaby has played with Andrew Firth, Normie Rowe, James Blundell, Machine on a Break, My Sister’s Gramophone, and many other notable Australian artists of various genres. This is a great way for the jazz club to start the year and will cost $20 for jazz club members and $25 for visitors. Music commences at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7 pm). Bookings can be made by sending an email to [email protected]. You can also call Pam or George on 0479 065 590, or just turn up on the night and pay at the door.
