About this Event
What are we going to do? Get to know the art of Sashiko. This traditional way of mending textiles is a creative challenge and good practice for hand sewing. Making these beautiful and functional repairs is a soothing activity and will undoubtedly bring new appreciation for beloved clothes from the past.
What can you expect? In this workshop you will learn the basic principles of Sashiko handicrafts and you can immediately get started with your own clothing. Various sewing stitches and their applications will first be discussed, after which you can start working out and sewing your own Sashiko repair.
Materials: Bring a pair of jeans/jacket (or other item of clothing) with holes and/or worn parts and fabric that you want to place behind the hole to be repaired. If you have one, your own thimble is very useful. Other materials will be provided.
