Drypoint Etching (2-part class)

In this class we will learn the drypoint technique as an alternative etching technique that reduces contact with toxic substances (such as acid mordants). In this class you will learn the basics of drypoint. We will go over how best to create images ideal for engraving by taking a look at historical examples of printmaking. Students will lean how to draw textures, use etching tools, apply ink, and print on Alchemy's printing press! Participants should bring a sketch of 3x4 inches to work with.

This class is taught by Alchemy artist-in-resdience . Laura’s mediums of choice are printmaking, comics, digital illustration and writing. Laura was born in Medellín, Colombia and her creative work is made from her perspective as a Latina and woman. AIRs teach special classes informed by their artistic practice - this is the only time this class will be taught at Alchemy!

This class is held in the print studio in the main art building on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.
