Even if you attend a beginner class after you’ve been drumming for a while the class will still apply and will help you to improve your skills.
Sunday morning 10 AM to 1 PM:
Drum and Rhythm Basics Course – Updated!
Daniel has taught this class for over 10 years to hundreds of people. This is a fresh way of looking at drumming and making music that opens it to literally everybody.
Would you enjoy going to drum circles but you don't know what to do? Would you like to be able to jam with your friends and find new friends through making music?
This three-hour workshop to learn percussion and rhythm basics that will get you on the right path to drumming. This class will teach you all you need to know to be able to play along in a drum circle like a pro even if you never drummed before. It will give you confidence in what you are doing, teach you how to use every drum circle to get better and enjoy drumming a whole lot more. This is not a class that teaches any specific tradition. It is simply based on numbers, and you will be able to apply what you learn here to any drum you’re playing.
Sunday afternoon 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM:
The theme: Grooving, groove skills and sounds for drum circles.
• How do I groove? What does that mean? Learn how to play with minimal energy effort. For that we will play a lot, keeping one groove at a time.
* Distiction of grooves: Drum circles tend to get stuck in the same patterns and all grooves tend to sound the same. Select and keep (protect) a groove. This is important for the player and for the group in order to settle in and deepen the experience.
• How do I maintain a groove while being able to listen to others and the interplay of our patterns together?
• How is it different when I start the groove for everybody versus joining in? How do I best join in with a groove that somebdy else started.
Both classes are highly interactive. I will adjust the class to the level and needs of the participants so that everybody gets the maximum out of it.
Cost:
• Morning and afternoon class are each $80 - OYBO (Or Your Best Offer).
• Whole day $120 ($40 saving) - OYBO (Or Your Best Offer).
Please let me explain my pricing: I base my pricing not on the amount of time we are spending together but on the amount of time and money I have put into being the musician and teacher I am. From that perspective, $80 ($120) is not much. This is to make clear to you how I value what I give. I could ask i.e. $500 because I do believe in the very high quality of what I give. OYBO allows you to pick an amount that works for you - less or more. Please know that I will accept whatever you give me without a second thought.
What's imprtant to me:
* ask for the right monetary value as I see it at this time (considering the increase in cost of living).
* to make it possible for you to there independent from how much you can pay.

What does “Music for the People” mean?
It means we use the gift of the sacred beat to come together and enjoy the magic of the beat to create an experience of unity and oneness.
It means we use drumming, singing, and any other instrument to feel a deep and living connection with each other in a democratic, interactive gathering of equals.
It means that we exclude nobody as not "skilled" enough and make natural, all-inclusive music... after all everybody can (try to) keep a beat. More developed players use their skills to make it easier for beginners to connect and beginners are encouraged to only do what they can and help the more advanced to “sparkle”.
And if you are a beginner and come to the more advanced classes you will always able to fully participate. That’s how true music making s meant to be: 100% inclusive and based on the simple truth that music in its natural form is “vertically” integrated. Even when we play sophisticated and more complicated forms they still are based on and follow very simple fundamentals that the beginner can participate in.
