A Book Arts Workshop – Tuesday, July 30, 2024 (10 AM– 4:00 PM)
About this Event

Drum Leaf Binding is an innovative binding that opens flat with no stitching to interrupt images or text that cross the fold of the page. Using minimal adhesive, single-sided folios are stacked and glued to create the text block (no sewing!). The text block can be constructed relatively quickly with minimal equipment and then covered by a variety of soft and hard cover cases. The resulting book is useful as a journal and sketchbook as well as an artist’s book featuring prints, paintings, photographs, and more. The structure is easily replicated at home in varied sizes and materials.

In this class, participants will fold folios, glue folios to construct a text block, and then case the text block in a hard cover that features a breakaway cloth spine and decorative paper.
