Drum Kit Basics is all about having fun with rhythm—no pressure and no experience needed! This beginner-friendly workshop will help participants start playing their first beat in no time. Your only limit is your soul; Anyone can drum... but only the fearless can be great.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
I’m Scott Lam, a passionate drummer and proud volunteer at The Alcove Centre for the Arts. I believe that anyone can pick up a pair of drumsticks, hit some drums, and have a blast while doing it! My goal is to help others discover the fun and freedom of drumming—whether you're a beginner or just curious. My goal is to help others discover the joy of drumming, focusing on finding your unique groove and enjoying the journey!

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.
Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
