About this Event
This offering will take place over one evening ( Friday 20th December 6pm - 8pm) and one day (Saturday 21st December 9am - 2pm). The venues will change for each day and you will be notified of the place in the weeks leading up to the event.
These dates have been chosen to flow with the energy of Litha which is a solar Festival that marks the peak of Summer or Summer Solstice here in the Southern Hemisphere. The Festival represents full bloom, full expression, community gathering, peak energy and the power of the Sun. This means it time is a great moment for giving thanks for everything that has fully bloomed in your life.
During this process you will be working with your own birth imprint. In the weeks before the journey you will have the option of a 1:1 Shamanic womancraft session. This session will guide you through a series of questions and lead you to find your own formula for creating and birthing new things.
The role of Charmaine Louise is to facilitate and midwife you through the crafting and birthing of your own medicine drum.
What you will take home:
A completed drum, Instructions for caring for your drum, a handmade drum beater and a hand dyed slip bag for your drum. You will also be invited to join a full moon drumming 2 weeks later to welcome your new drum. I also hold community drumming events that happen at different times through the year in the Fremantle area.
Flow of the drum birthing:
Friday night: We will gather together in ceremony, creating a sacred container and setting our intentions for our medicine drums. Our drums will be born from kangaroo hide and a 15" drum frame lovingly made from Divine heart frame drums. We will drop into a drum journey to connect to our animals and start the process of transforming and preparing our hides with intention for our birthing journey the next day. Warm drinks are supplied, I recommend you eat something light before arriving.
Saturday : We gather again in ceremony and begin the journey of weaving our drums. This day is dedicated to our drum birthing. We expect to finish at approx 2pm and will close the ceremony together. It is important that everyone stays until everyone has completed their drum birthing. Please BYO lunch, light snacks provided.
What you will need to bring:
- yoga mat and cushion or bolster
- Old towel to work on and to wrap your drum in while creating
- A journal and pen
- Altar piece (optional)
