About this Event
Bring some – take some!
"Drop and Swap" is a community initiative where parents can share clean, gently used baby and children's clothes with each other.
The idea is that parents can bring in clothes that their children have outgrown, and then swap them for items that are the right size for their children.
How does it work?
The process of “Drop and Swap” typically involves setting up a location where parents can drop off their unwanted clothes and then organizing a time when parents can come and take the clothes that they need. This could be done in a variety of ways, such as a physical location like a community center or church, or in a park on a nice day; sometimes even online through social media platforms or local parenting groups.
What’s the vibe?
The event is simple and focusses on peer support. We meet in a nice location, and set up a table where we ask attendees to drop their clothes in size batches. You are then welcome to take some items that might fit your children. We usually encourage all parents and careers to stop and share a cup of tea with us for a bit of small talk chatter and support for each other (as we all know be an active parent can be very draining) and then we wrap up to go on with our days.A typical “Drop and Swap” goes for around 2 hours and any clothes left over at the end the hosts arrange for them to be donated to a charity, we tend to favour single-parent programs with our donations.
What are the ages?
Ages vary but this event tends to be of interest to parents and careers of infant children – newborn to around 3 or 4… but we have no age limit as such!
The benefits are varied…
“Drop and Swap” initiatives can be a great way for parents to save money on children's clothing, as well as reducing waste by giving used clothes a new home. It can also create a sense of community by bringing parents together to share resources and support each other.
Please bring clean and neat clothes…
It's important to ensure that all clothes that are shared through a “Drop and Swap” initiative are clean and in good condition, so that parents can feel confident that the items they are receiving are safe and suitable for their children to wear.
All care no responsibility…
The team at The Poppet Centre ask that you select your items well. We will accept no liability for loss or damages caused by items selected at our “Drop and Swap”.
