High school basketball star Nathaniel "Cornbread" Hamilton (Keith Wilkes) is the pride of his urban neighbourhood, and he appears destined for big things on the court and in the classroom. But a dare leads to a fatal misunderstanding when Nathaniel is shot dead by police who take him for someone who's just committed a violent crime. As police officers try to protect one of their own, members of the oppressed African-American community do what they must to find justice.
