June’s @drink.and.draw.chico is going to be a serious love fest!Lots of exciting things so please read the whole post :)
First of all, I am so proud to be partnering with @stonewallchico for our First Annual Drink and Draw Pride event. Thank you so much for reaching out everyone is super excited!
At @drink.and.draw.chico we have said since the beginning that we don’t “normalize” queer identities because we already accept them as normal. I would guess that at least half of our attendees are queer and we don’t really publicly talk about that much bc that’s just how our world looks. It’s a really good place to meet fellow artists, go on a date (with built in backup if you’re meeting someone for the first time), and to make time for your hobbies and mental health.
We make accommodations for differently abled folks as well so if you need extra support reach out and we will do our best to make it comfortable for you! This includes folks with neurodivergence.
This month things are going to be a little extra special to celebrate Pride month.
At our last meeting, I invited attendees to create queer themed coloring sheets for us to trade at the event. If you would like to design a coloring sheet please reach out to me for the requirements. (I want to keep track of who is participating and start a group chat.)
All submissions are due no later than Wednesday May 27 at 8 PM.
Participants are also welcome to bring their own minimal mess supplies for their own art projects and coloring implements for the coloring sheets. I have some to share but supplies are extremely limited.
We are also planning to have a couple queer movies playing while we create! If all goes well, we will be watching “But I’m a Cheerleader” and “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert”
@stonewallchico is coming out to fundraise if you have a few dollars to spare please consider donating to our town’s local LGBTQIA+ resource center. Stonewall saves lives and creates community so pleae support them if you are able.

What is @drink.and.draw.chico?
This is a bring your own (minimal mess) art supply event. Art enthusiasts of all mediums and skill levels are invited to engage with the community by working on their personal projects in a public space. It’s a great reason to set time aside for our personal art practices and make new friends! (Also a super sweet and thoughtful date night idea 😉)
What if I’m not an artist?
Sometimes it can be hard to identify as an artist because you haven’t prioritized your creative side or you don’t think you’re talented enough for the title. 1) Talent is totally subjective and since this isn’t a contest you won’t be scored on the work you do. 2) The only way to get better is to practice! Why not do it over a cocktail?
We also have some coloring books you can rip a page out of. We wont even check to make sure you stayed in the lines 😉
What if I don’t drink?
@drink.and.draw.chico is generally pretty mellow. Most people have just a couple drinks to support the hosting venue but it is not required. Everywhere we host also makes SUPER tasty mocktails for our sober friends who want to support. No purchase necessary to attend.
Argus also recently added food items to their menu so can have a little nosh while you make some art.
