If you never had the opportunity to meet Drew Roones, let me tell you about the man whose legacy we are proud to carry forward. Drew was one of the most selfless young men you could ever meet—a proud military veteran who served his country and, upon returning home, continued to serve his community in countless ways. He was the kind of person who would give you the proverbial “shirt off his back” and then ask what else you needed.Years ago, Drew had a simple but powerful idea: gather his friends and a few of his favorite musicians for an evening of great music, good company, and most importantly, a mission—to collect toys and raise money for children in need. That first toy drive made Christmas brighter for many kids, and it became a tradition close to his heart.
In June 2015, shortly after celebrating his 30th birthday, we lost Drew to cancer. While we miss him dearly, his passion and love for others live on through his family, friends, and everyone touched by his generosity. This year, we continue his mission with the Drew Roones Memorial Toy Drive, benefiting Alliance for Children of Tarrant County—an incredible organization serving children and families in difficult circumstances.
