Known primarily as µ-Ziq, Mike Paradinas has spent over three decades shaping the contours of contemporary electronic sound. A close collaborator of Aphex Twin, he released early work on Rephlex, co-created the cult classic Expert Knob Twiddlers (1996) under the Mike & Rich moniker, and later toured internationally with Björk. In parallel, Paradinas founded Planet Mu in 1995 – one of the most consistently forward-thinking electronic labels of the past 30 years, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025. Through Planet Mu, he has championed and released a wide spectrum of artists who have gone on to define and disrupt electronic music, including Venetian Snares, Luke Vibert, Leafcutter John, and many others.
µ-Ziq’s music resists fixed categorisation, yet remains instantly recognisable. His work moves fluidly between intricate melodic composition and uncompromising dancefloor energy, traversing IDM, ambient, techno, house and beyond — all bound by a distinct sense of playfulness, precision, and emotional clarity. This sensibility extends into his live performances, where decades of experimentation converge into a dynamic, constantly evolving practice.
