About this Event
Welcome to Dreams: Learning the Language of the Unconscious!
Join us for an introductory workshop on dream analysis. Through this workshop, attendees will learn basic principles used to analyze and interpret their dreams, unearthing the potential that dreams hold for helping us look inward. Some of the basic principles discussed will be dream inquiry (the key questions to ask in order to make sense of dreams); how to use associations to uncover the meaning of images in your dream; The subjective and objective approaches to dreams; and how to think about dreams both literally and symbolically. For example, what comes to mind when you think of Mt. Everest? Answers might include: "The highest mountain" or "a perilous voyage" or "a great personal accomplishment" or simply "an upcoming trip destination". Dreams can be similarly unpacked to better understand their meaning.
The instructor will provide a brief outline of the two major theories of dream analysis advanced by Freud and Jung, two of history's greatest contributors to the study of dreams. Attendees will have time to brainstorm and analyze some example dreams provided by the instructor.
