A guided meditation space for Black and queer people designed to unlock the freedom of self-love, living inside all of us.
About this Event

The meditative Art of Yoga Nidra is an ancient form of Yoga, that moves along the pathway of your body's natural ability of sleep, to provide internalized focused relaxation and healing through sound & breath. Ushering us to a place just between waking and sleep, where we are naturally disengaging from stress producing thoughts; allowing the body to naturally and deeply restore itself.

A few of the benefits of the practice:

- Maintain balance and focus in the midst of change.

- Re-Regularization of the Nervous System

- Managing anxious and reactive emotions.

- Optimizing decision-making and solution building.

- Stabilize physical well-being as an essential source of mental clarity and creativity.

- Reduce stress related symptoms.

Yoga Nidra helps with PTSD, CPTSD, depression, excessive stress, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, habit changing, integration, restoration, sports performance blocks, relaxation, support during periods of grief and addiction recovery, and balancing out the levels of stress hormones in the body.

This practice is done in the asana of Savasana - laying flat or sitting (if unable to lay flat on your back), while made comfortable with mats, blankets, and supportive pillows. It is very accessible and easily modified to support those with mobility challenges.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and bring a mat if you have one, a blanket, and a pillow. Phones should be on silent or off during the entire session to maintain the intimacy and sacredness of the space. It is recommended to refrain from eating 30-45 minutes prior to the session.

This is a Black and queer-only space. Please do not register if you do not identify as Black or queer.

This offering is a collaborative effort of Queer the Land, Loving Room: Diaspora Books + Salon, and Yoga Nidra Practioner, Sophia Haddix.
