Native American Dream Catchers, originally from the Ojibwe tribe, were traditionally used as talismans. Their purpose is to protect sleepers, especially children, from bad dreams, nightmares and evil spirits. Native Americans believe that at night the air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. The Dream Catcher attracts and then catches in its web all kinds of dreams and thoughts, trapping the negative dreams and passing the good ones down through the feathers.
Making Dream Catchers is a time-honored tradition in most modern Native American communities. If you are interested in a hands-on learning experience and sharing wisdom from the Ojibwe, Lakota, and Diné traditions, please join us in this workshop.
Ms. Andrea Taahaabaah Twitchell, from the Diné (Navajo) Nation, will be leading this workshop and sharing her indigenous wisdom and deep reflections on the process of “weaving,” as taught to us by our ancestor, Spider Woman.
All materials will be supplied, including hot tea and filtered water.
