Jeanette Barnes' drawing included in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2024 exhibition, Kings Cross Interior III, 2024, is made with compressed charcoal on paper and measures 151 x 221cm. This is the third version of a large drawing made from the interior of Kings Cross Station. In this drawing, Jeanette is looking at the physicality of the space and how people can travel quickly through the space, their personal journey, interactions with people and architecture. Jeanette makes many sketches on location to inform the large drawings, made back at the studio. She has sketched at Kings Cross many times over the years. These drawings are not about a single moment in time but almost function as a long exposure or timelapse video, as Jeanette looks for resonant combinations that have echoes in time.
