Winter is the perfect time to appreciate and draw deciduous trees. Each kind of tree has their own unique structure. We will start with learning/reviewing the basic drawing techniques for drawing 3-dimensional trunks and branches, then about the structure of the different kinds of trees and tips on how to create that look. Lastly, we will use colored pencils and colored paper to create a couple of finished winter tree art drawings. The perfect way to spend time inside when It’s cold outside!
Materials: Bring a 9”x12” spiral bound sketchbook, a pad (9”x12”) or large sheet of colored drawing paper. (Canson Mi-Teines paper is recommended but not necessary -You can find it at Hobby Lobby or online), set of at least 12 colored pencils including a white and at least one light grey color, a couple gray tones would be good for variety of color options, set of graphite pencils, white eraser, sharpener. You can buy individual colored pencils at local art stores or Dick Blick Art catalog online. (“Prismacolor” colored pencils are recommended – not Scholar Prismacolors)
